Vilas NC
 Vilas NC is a charming town that is nestled between two
large tourist destinations. Boone and Banner Elk are both
nearby; however, if you are looking for a private getaway
during the holidays, Vilas NC is the perfect place! Vilas is
a quaint, private town offering lovely mountain culture
without all the hustle and bustle of some of the other
tourist attractions. It is conveniently located within the
Blue Ridge Mountains and displays lovely panoramic views.
In addition to hay rides and tree-choosing, there are
several attractions to enjoy on your visit to Vilas NC.
Moretz’s Mountain Apples is an apple orchard in Vilas where
visitors can make an appointment to stop by and explore the
90 varieties of mountain apples the farm grows. Also
enjoyable is a visit to the Shady Grove Gardens and Nursery
in Vilas NC. Visitors can enjoy exploring the gardens and
even picking their own flowers on Friday afternoons. Shady
Grove also offers wedding package options for brides on
location in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
For those more sports-oriented in the family, Vilas NC
offers great golfing in a resort setting at the Willow
Valley Resort. The Willow Valley Golf Course is open April
through October annually for visitors and residents to enjoy
during the mild summer months of Vilas NC. In addition to
the 9-hole golf course, the Willow Valley Resort offers
lodging in one of its many cabins as well as amenities
including tennis courts, a swimming pool complete with
Jacuzzis, and grilling locations throughout the property.
In addition to the resort, Vilas NC also has several lovely
bed and breakfasts to stay in while spending time choosing
your Christmas tree. The Lazy Bear Lodge and the Baird House
are two popular Vilas bed and breakfast locations in the
Vilas area. The Lazy Bear Lodge is a two-story log cabin
created to be a bed and breakfast for the High Country. In
addition to five guest rooms, the Lazy Bear Lodge also has
its own restaurant open to guests on Saturday nights and
complete spa services available for the weary traveler in
search of relaxation. The Baird House is an historic
colonial farmhouse that has been restored to be a peaceful
bed and breakfast located conveniently close to Vilas NC.
The Baird House Inn is a favorite to honeymooners and
families alike with 12 acres, a trout stocked pond, and even
a family dog, Gabby, as a host.
With all of these attractions and amenities, Vilas NC is
truly a great, quiet place to visit and stay while searching
for the perfect Christmas tree at Stone Mountain Farms.
